Teamwork, a good business does not survive without it. At the beginning of any project, it is important that your team shares the same company. Working from the same hymn sheet is incredibly important. If they want everyone in your team to be singing the same song. Many employers forget this step, only to find out later that the employee isn’t quite as invested in it as they had hoped.

Think of this from an individual perspective when you share your vision with someone else, you invite them to see it with you.  Employers should always encourage staff to join the journey as sharing creates ownership, and ownership builds a strong work ethic.

Appreciate Each Others Skills

In a work environment, a little competition can go a long way. But if you are not appreciating your colleague’s skills then you could be losing precious insights and talents. Working as a team means that you should build each other up instead of bringing each other down. Before you get started with a project assign roles and allow everyone to step forward for a position that they think they would be great at. From there on you will be able to sculpt a team that is not only skilled but fair. Think of it this way, in a working environment you would not want to assign a content writer to work on the backend of your e-commerce blog writing code.



You may have heard this time and time again, however, communication is important when it comes to teamwork. Make sure that everyone on your team is on the same page. This means that nothing will be missed and everyone will understand their role and what is required of them.

Whether it is a morning meeting or at the end of the day, you should always keep up to date with your other team members. If they need help, try your best to support them. If the show is on the other foot, ask for help too. The better the communication within your team the more likely you are to succeed. One of the main responsibilities you have as an employer is to make sure the communication train is running smoothly every day. Make sure your command structure is set in place and your supervisors are helping you guide the employers along.



Clear Expectations

This is similar to communication as everyone should have clear expectations when it comes to understanding deadlines, aims and goals.  It’s a good practice to have daily and weekly goals set within your team. This allows your team to get used to achieving those goals and having your expectations met.

Remember you do not always need to take the lead on the project. Allow your team to support you giving them some responsibility when it comes to reporting and analysing the work which has been done. An equal team will have respect for one another, an important quality when it comes to business releationships.
